The phone guy called me back this morning. They would have to run a new line for us to get internet here.

That means physically dig a hole and bury a new cable.

So no dice on the DSL. I am mad a the cable guy for getting my hopes up.

Are there no wireless solutions?

We use Iburst Technology at work, and EDGE at home. Our reps use HSDPA on the road.

EDGE, 3G and HSDPA are Celluar based technologies.

If your cellphone allows you to websurf at home chances are your celluar service provider could have a solution. (In fact my BIL uses his cell phone as a modem)

Ha! I have to drive two miles away from my house to even get my cell phone to work!

There is no cell phone reception where we are. We are at the edge of a valley and all the towers are on top of the hill so we are in a dead spot.

We are looking into satallite providers.

There are two and we need to see if we can get reception here. The initial cost is a bit high, but my parents have said that they will help us pay for the install so there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Lets hope that light is optical fibre :-)

Can I come live with you, no cell coverage sounds like heaven on earth.
