Hi all!

Sorry I just realized that I have not updated my journal in a week. Oops!

I am fine, the Puff is fine as far as I can tell. His daddy was very excited about the fact that he is a boy. And now comes the grand fun of finding a name for the little guy. I have some ideas. The Slytherin has some ideas. If you have ideas you are welcome to suggest them, just please remember that I went to grade school with different boys than you did and I also went to college with different guys than you did sooooo you never know which perfectly fine names have hideous conotations for another person.

I have been working on my smutty_claus ficage. Which I would tell you more about but I can't because it is sooper seekrit!!! But I have to say I am really liking the fic, I just hope the recipient enjoys it as well.

Other than that I have to go OUT to dinner with the m-i-l for Thanksgiving. Grr. She had to tell me how they pulled some fluid off her knee and sent it off to the Mayo clinic. Hence she is not up to cooking, which was fine with me. She said she would rather go out. I said fine. Of course then the pregnancy thing kicked in and I decided that I really wanted MY dressing and deviled eggs (I mean what restaurants have deviled eggs on la buffet???)and a sugar-free pumpkin pie of my own making. Plus the Slytherin has to work until 5pm and there aren't a whole lot of options left at that time of night. So the Slytherin and I decided we would cook Thanksgiving here, no problem. Between the two of us we can kick some serious butt in the kitchen. So I go to the store and I buy a 9lbs. turkey and other such items as are needed for the feasting.

I called the m-i-l on Monday morning (at 11am) to inform her of the change of plans. She was asleep. So I told her current husband. He said fine.

The Slytherin calls me later and says that he has talked to his mother and she wants to go out. So he said we should go out on Thursday and make OUR Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday and invite some people that we actually enjoy spending time with. I say fine.

Later that evening the m-i-l calls to tell me that a) the current husband really wants to take us all out and b) that she "already made reservations"

I already bought a frakking 9 LBS. TURKEY!!!

I didn't say that thought, because I was actually able to keep the hormonal rage in check. Go me! Lets all just hope that the same will be true for Thursday evening. Cause if not I will be finishing my dinner in the car.

Kudos for holding your temper. I'm old fashioned, and Thanksgiving is at home. The couple times I've been out of state or out of the country, everyone is miserable. Hope they have some good diabetes options at this restaurant!

Probably not, but I was told there would be carved beef.

I am old fashoned as well, my mother-in-law is evil.

We shall have our real Thanksgiving on Saturday with friends and I will make my glorius fresh sage dressing with sausage and dried cranberries. oh and the deviled eggs :D

Turkey Day
I've heard eating in the car can be very fun. No one to see you dribbling cranberry sauce (whole berry - natch) on your white dress shirt or counting how many helpings of dressing you actually have.

Enjoy your Turkey!

Ah, don't worry about it. It'll be over soon enough.

I'm just grateful I don't have to do T-giving with my inlaws. There is something to be said for living 18 hours away by car. Hmm, maybe if I move to CA, I won't have to do holidays with his family or my family.

The one bright spot in all my holiday drama is that I have Thursday blessedly free. My brother and his wife could only get Friday off from the Merlin-knows-how-many jobs they work, so that is when my mother is doing the big meal. Unfortunately, our current budget won't stretch for my Slytherin and I to indulge in our T-giving tradition--which is to go to the grocery store and pick up whatever strikes our fancy. But at least the day will be peaceful.

maybe the car is the better option LOL. Or you can cook the turkey and post bits of it to her in well-sealed envelopes....

We have inivited friends over Saturday so I am sure that will be a lovely time.

Now I just have to suffer through an hour or so with the mother-in-law tomorrow night.

Oh and of course I have absolutely nothing decent to wear that actually fits and no money to go buy something!

Boy names, eh?

My favourite boy name is Henry -- to which Jay made himself gag and actually physically put his foot down against. Another option was Thomas. I like Tom. It's a fun anme (and it has absolutly NOTHING to do with my Felton!fascination.

Do you have favourites?

Thomas is my evil Percy-ish brother's name. So that is out. I think the Slytherin will veto Henry as well LOL

I am leaning towards Gabriel (Gabe) or Maxwell (Max) but I am open to other ideas as well.

The bubs middle name is going to be Weston so we have that much figured out1

Sorry I have already promised my husband that the Puff will not have a Potter name.

And I hate Jimmy.

I really do like Charlie, but the Slytherin has a family member that he does not like with that name or else I really could have made a case for Charles.

Non-Potter Names?
Your husband does realize how many MALE Characters there are in the Potter-verse, yeah? It will be hard to find one that doesn't show up in one of the books....

Nicholas (Sir Nicholas de Mimsey Porpington - oops)
Sean/Shaun (not Seamus)

Those are some of my personal favourites!
