Oh I wish I had the energy...

Because OMG there is theory to discuss! (Check out the updates to JKR's site!)

This whole invisibility cloak question is oh so intriguing and I wish I had the energy to put coherent ideas together in my head about it!

I shall have to think on this one awhile, because I think that someone asked me what I thought about that same question and I totally blew it off like a month ago saying that they were probably just passing it around the Order for assignments. *headdesk*

Now I must thing about this and ponder.

Right after I have a nap...

JKR Updated her site!

Section: Extra Stuff
NAQ

... which means, 'never asked question'.

Why did Dumbledore have James' invisibility cloak at the time of James' death, given that Dumbledore could make himself invisible without a cloak?

Prior to posting this I had a quick look on-line, and realised that some fans have been speculating about this question. However, nobody has ever asked me about it, and they really should have done. Just to allay the fears of the justifiably suspicious, this isn't what we in the know call 'a Mark Evans situation.'* There IS a significant - even crucial - answer.

* Note to newcomers: my attempt to put to rest certain wild theories about the unimportant character of 'Mark Evans' backfired when I inadvertently built up even more excitement by promising to explain his significance.

Yes! I have honestly only had passing thoughts on this as well.

I am thinking that it may connect with the whole "why does it take 24 hours or so to get to the Dursley's doorstep" thing.

Maybe. Oh so much to think on! I love that she threw us this little puzzle.

I know. We were long over due for a theory teaser!

Good reasoning on the 24 hours thing too.

I can't get my head around it ATM. Does it mean that there was somebody else there wearing the cloak when LV came for the Potters? Or that somebody was meant to be wearing it at the time and wasn't (hence DD having it)? Or as someone else mentioned, that it has something to do with the 24 hours till everyone showed up on the doorstep. Hmmmm......it's been too long since we theorised.

I agree that it could very well have something to do with the missing hours. I find it hard to understand why Dumbledore would not have poked around in Godric's Hollow after the Potter's death. I think he would have gone through looking for clues about how Harry survived, who was involved, etc. It also leads us to the possibility of something else being removed as well. One big question that she's also not been asked publically is the timing of the Horcrux spell. Do you split your soul before a murder, put it in an object and then seal it with a murder? If so, that would leave the chance of a Horcrux being in G.H or perhaps inadvertantly removed by Dumbledore to Hogwarts. Could James be a desendant of Godric Gryffindor? Anyway, far too much fodder for the easily obsessed speculator in me...

Bloody Hell! That woman can be a right pain in the arse at times. Like I don't have enough to theorize about ATM... Horcruxes, RAB, 2 integral characters dying, H/G... etc...etc...etc...

Oh, I agree. Just give us the book and stop teasing us!

Just adding fuel to the fire......

Given the nature of The killing spell....would it go through an invisible person?
